So after many years I have decided to buy my first leather jacket. I never even had one in the 80′s or 90′s, oh actually yes I did but it was a cream plastic biker jacket from Topshop. I think it was in the late 90′s and they were all the rage. Lots of different colours (I can actually remember someone with an orange one!!!) but they all had the same style, I think the look I am thinking of was Posh Spice in her song ‘Out of your mind’ with Dane Bowers, well yes Posh you were out of your mind, for wearing that!! oh the shame!
80′s has been making a huge comeback so cropped leather jackets (think Madonna back in the days) is the style to be seen in right now but you have to get this look right. Too many studs and you will look like a punk rocker, too much fringing and you will look like a Dolly Parton look-a-like. There are so many different styles in the shops right now but the first thing is that it has to be black and then you have to decide on studs, or quilted squares, biker style or cropped.
When I think of a leather jacket looking spot on I think of Alexa Chung, Cheryl Cole and Rhianna, they each wear this look really well but in different ways. I think the best look is to team it with a pair of funky boots worn with a beautiful pretty dress like Alexa or with tight skinny jeans and long vest like Cheryl or with a checked shirt like Rhianna. Either way it is about wearing it to look cool. So throw on your best shades, skinny jeans and style it out sister!
